Spring in Fairbanks

Spring in Fairbanks meant a trip to Whitehorse for an archaeology meeting, school wrapped up, and our first camping trip of the season.

Bike to school day! Snow is gone! Jack gets crazy about riding his bike to school in the spring.

Atlatl craziness. We made kids versions for archaeology day at the museum and Earth day on Fort Wainwright.

Mom went to Anchorage for a hockey tournament and ran into some archaeologists at a real atlatl event!

Best ever first grade teacher Ms. O'Malley gets a teacher of the year award!

We got some new wheels and took them on a ride to the Canadian Archaeological Association Meetings in Whitehorse in May. We had a great time visiting with old friends and professors. Jack and Will got to go out and visit a farm owned by some friends, go to the hot springs, and swim in the terrific Canada Games pool. It was a terrific conference and we had a wonderful time.

Jack's class went on their annual camping trip. This trip was on Chena Hot Springs road and included a hike of Granite Tors. Jack did great. He is one of the athletic kids in the class.

Will finished up his month of basketball. It was a hit! He didn't hate it!

In other athletic events.. here are the moms being zombies at the zombie run and the boys got their GREEN belts in Karate!

Ice cream after school.

Here is our awesome first camping trip to Nome Creek. We went with two other families and had a great time boating, hiking, eating, flint knapping, and playing games. The weather was great and the bugs weren't bad. Looking forward to the summer to come.
