Rome

We were lucky enough to stay at a "luxery B&B" in Rome, right around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. It was an awesome location. Rome traffic is nuts, so we parked for 2 days and walked around from there. When we arrived at the B&B we were shown around by the owner, who thankfully was not fluent in English.. because as soon as we entered the room, Jack said "There is one problem, I can't jump bed to bed". His favorite thing to do in hotel rooms is jump between the double beds. We pushed over the twin that they had made up for him so that he could still go bed to bed. Hey, they weren't our beds. We visited St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City (missed the Sistine Chapel because of long lines), the Colosseum, and the Pantheon. Roman architecture was amazing!

Jumping bed to bed in the nicest hotel room Jack has ever been in!

Crepe breakfast in the kitchen area.

Crazy lines at the Vatican Museums

St. Peter's Square and Basilica and the dome designed by Michelangelo.

Trying to decide if we should get into the long line to go in the church. Jack is feeding popcorn to the pigeons.

The line was moving fast and we went in. Michelangelo's Pieta, one of his early works.

This is cool, check out all those crosses!

Picking out a new cross at the Vatican kitch store.

This is the view as you walk out of the train station. Amazing!

The Colosseum has been looted of marble but there were a few remaining pieces.

The staging and seating areas.

We are gladiators!

Will does some stretching at the Palatine (90210 of ancient Rome).

View from above.

Palatine ruins.

Big, pure chocolate gelato on the walk to the Pantheon.

The Pantheon. Only Roman building still in use. It is 2000 years old and is used as a church.

A gladiator sword.

Wrestling at the B&B

Posing at the Trevi fountain the next morning.

We got up early to see it before the hoards of tourists got there.

A fun adventure!

Climbing on Renaissance sculpture!

And that is it for Italy! This is the bath the night before we headed home to Fairbanks!
