First Days in Italy

We went to Italy to visit Jeff's sister in May. We took Condor so that we could fly the fast way, over the pole. It was a long flight (s) and the boys didn't sleep the entire way there. They were a mess when we got to Italy and fell asleep in the airport while we were waiting for our bags. Unfortunately, the bag with my clothes in it didn't come for almost a week. Exciting adventures.

The boys went straight down to the river when we arrived to check out the water level and jump rock to rock. It started raining the next day and kept up for the rest of the week. The water got too high to jump between rocks and Will was disappointed.

First moments with the little cousin! Katerina is such a cutie pie! She thought cousins were good fun. She called them both "Jack" although she was usually talking about Will. Or else she would say "boys".

Breakfast set up at the B&B

Katerina and Will get into a present grandma had left during her last visit.

The first morning after we arrived Jeff and Amy had an adventure modeling shoot in a little town in the Dolomites.

A big hike was part of the trip. Will was wiped and fell asleep in the car at the bottom but Jack and Katerina made it to the top.

Wow! Neat view.

Thick Italian hot chocolate was the reward at the end.

Jeff and I went on runs near Amy's house. Jeff found this cook flaked chert wall.

We went north again near the border with Austria the next day to the town of Merano. We ate German food and played in the playground.

On the way home we stopped at a cool modern children's museum in Trento.

Rain moved in and we had to get creative. Walks in the rain with umbrellas...

Playing in the bunk beds..

Fossil hunting...

..and a visit to the blacksmith shop where Jack got a machete and will got a sword.

Guess who lost another tooth?

Take out pizza and salad for lunch one day. Italians really do eat a lot of pizza and pasta!
