First Stop: Kailua

Jeff and I had a conference to go to in Oahu (poor us!). So we added a couple days onto the trip and brought the boys for a little spring vacation, which was nice, since it was still 20 below 0 F in Fairbanks when we got back.

The boys are easy on the plane now that we have video games in our lives.

We love arriving in warm places in the winter! The air feels so different than Fairbanks. It is so amazing to walk around in the dark without jackets on.

We arrived in Honolulu and drove straight out to Kailua on Oahu's eastern shore. Easter was the next day and the bunny found us! He hid snorkel gear and Skylanders around the apartment. We stayed at a nice little spot just minutes from the beach. It was really windy and they were predicting great surfing on the north shore.

The boys got busy on the beach right away. Not sure it was warm enough to go shirtless, but "We are Alaska boys, mom".

An old roommate of mom's from Brown lives on Oahu now and she came out to have lunch with us. We went back to the beach and the boys built a shelter and did Ninjago moves in the sand (well- at least Will did!).

I'm a little mouse. Or wolf, or puppy...
The daily shave ice. A reward for surviving Hawaii for the day!

We ate a lot of Japanese food in Hawaii. The boys are always game for white rice, pot stickers, and edaname.
