Adventures around the Island

We spent a couple of days adventuring around Oahu. Our goal was the north shore, so we hopped in the car and headed north. The first thing we found was a dilapidated park with some interesting wildlife.

Baby chicks! This may be the highlight of our trip!

Sleeping grass. We had forgotten about this. Touch the edge and it shrivels right up!

We quickly found food, of course, a shrimp bus.

A highlight was Malaekahana State Park. Lots of beach and trees and fun!

Pretending we are on a romantic vacation without the boys : ).

Writing naughty notes in the sand.

Jack and Will played tree climbing school here until we dragged them off. We made it to the north shore, but no one was surfing so we don't have any photos!

The next day we took a secret trail to a hidden waterfall (Likelike Falls). This was fun. Crawling through brambles, climbing over historic walls, searching for secret paths!

And back to the southern end of the island for more sight seeing on our way to the conference hotel in Waikiki.

We picked a warm day to hike to the top of Diamond Head. So did many many other people.

Jack made it a mile straight up with just minor complaining.

Will still needs to be carried a lot because sometimes "my legs are broken".

And a nice picnic and shave ice as a post hike reward.
