Day 4: Whitehorse/Annie Lake
We spent the next day with some friends on their sheep farm south of Whitehorse. We went to Annie Lake for a paddle and had a picnic on a distant shore. Jack was eager to try out his new fire starting kit. Annie Lake is home to at least one known archaeological site, and we found flakes in the trail on the way to the lake. After a tough day on the lake, we stopped at a river to go gold panning. All the rain meant the river was rushing quite fast, but we managed to find a small side channel and had fun searching for gold (none found) and making sand castles.
Boys boat.
Lots of dry wood to start a fire!
Hot picnic lunch.
Look what I found! An artifact!
Me too.
The boys panning for gold.
