Merry Chrstmas to Me!

Our kitchen cabinets are in! Now the major work on our house is done. Just 100 and 1 other jobs to do, painting, trim, tiling, etc. We are very excited to have a real kitchen after living with a camp kitchen for over 2 years. Jeff and the boys installed the sink and dishwasher yesterday. We are now fully functional! Empty space on the 21st. Ooo! Looking good going in! Now to fill it up and wash all those dishes! We still need drawer handles and a counter top. There is a little bar area for the kids to sit at on the right. Most exciting is the pantry cabinets around the fridge. Woo hoo!

Preschool skills...

Mr. Imagination is totally resistant to learning letters and numbers, so getting him to learn his ABCs and 123s has been challenging and I am constantly trying to find new ways to keep it interesting (I hope this doesn't say anything about all of the school years to come!!). Jack has a new sticker chart, and writing his name each day earns him a sticker (and a quarter). This has been working well, although his letters often grow legs and arms and feet or have things shooting out of them. Everything becomes a story with Jack!

Rome

We were lucky enough to stay at a " luxery B&B" in Rome, right around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. It was an awesome location. Rome traffic is nuts, so we parked for 2 days and walked around from there. When we arrived at the B&B we were shown around by the owner, who thankfully was not fluent in English.. because as soon as we entered the room, Jack said "There is one problem, I can't jump bed to bed". His favorite thing to do in hotel rooms is jump between the double beds. We pushed over the twin that they had made up for him so that he could still go bed to bed. Hey, they weren't our beds. We visited St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City (missed the Sistine Chapel because of long lines), the Colosseum , and the Pantheon. Roman architecture was amazing! Jumping bed to bed in the nicest hotel room Jack has ever been in! Crepe breakfast in the kitchen area. Crazy lines at the Vatican Museums St. Peter's Square and Basilica and the...
