Denmark Trip Part 2

We ventured further out of Copenhagen the next few days. First to southern Denmark to the amazing Viking Ship Museum. This place was incredible. Ships excavated from wrecks in the harbor, recreations of boats, rope, and every tool used during the Viking Era. Lots of hands on activities. Incredible! After that we drove south to the small island of Møn. Here we ventured down the longest staircase we have ever seen to view the chalk cliffs and all the great chert eroding out of the chalk. The next day we spent most of the day at the Land of Legends, Sagnlanded Lejre. This is an open-air, living history museum that is incredible. Tons of hands on activities to get you and the kids through stone age and iron age. Families can even rent iron age houses. We paddled dug-out canoes, cooked our lunch over the fire, used a Viking ax, and ground our own grain for bread. Sweden

The remainder of our trip was on the Swedish seaside. We spent three nights south of Gothenburg in a little cottage owned by some friends of my parents that spend half of the year in Florida. They were great hosts, showing us around their town of Falkenberg and introducing the boys to horseshoe crab fishing. We finally made it to see a bog body (my goal of the trip) in a fortress north of town.We swam in the ocean near Gothenburg, toured the archipelago, and had a fun dinner out with some other Swedish friends. After our days on the coast we drove down to Malmo for our last night. Hit the college town Lund on the way down for lunch and made it to our last air b&b in time for some geocaching and a fantastic swim at a public indoor pool. Back home in the morning! Winter Fun

Catching up to Christmas means lots of skiing, lots of running, and many fun events... Boys helping dad stock his new wood shed. Day of the Dead!! St. Jude's marathon in Memphis. Finished! Took an hour off of Equinox! Visiting the ducks in the Peabody Hotel. Visit from old friends! Setting up the Christmas village. Decorating the tree! It is mini this year because we are taking off to Florida. Decorating cookies. Christmas brunch with Felicia before we take off!
